REC15 and REC45 Construction for Bi-Directional Switching

Full Application Note

High-voltage DC distribution networks need robust, symmetric load interruption that performs equally in the normal and reverse current directions. Traditional contactor designs often compromise reverse-current performance or require large footprints to prevent internal carbon tracing. The Rincon Power REC15 and REC45 series use a unified, fully bi-directional architecture that maximizes internal air gap clearances and repositions the permanent blowout magnets to the ends of the housing, delivering polarity-independent arc mitigation in a compact envelope. This note explains the arc-control mechanics and construction choices that let these contactors stretch and extinguish a continuous DC arc regardless of current direction.
