The Rincon Power REC15 Series uses a single, non-economized coil for both pull-in and hold, which means key operating parameters vary with temperature as the coil resistance changes. This application note presents measured REC15 coil performance across the full operating temperature range and explains the underlying electrical and magnetic mechanisms. Because coil resistance rises with temperature, coil current and therefore magnetic force decrease at constant applied voltage, which shifts pickup voltage, dropout voltage, and actuation behavior. It also addresses the system-level design impact of these effects, particularly in voltage-sensitive and battery-powered applications where supply voltage may sag.
