Talk to an engineer →Switching duty
Which switching duty do I need?
It depends on whether current is flowing when the contacts move. Pick the duty that matches your circuit, then filter the relays by it.
Carry Only no current switching
Contacts close and open with no current flowing. Once closed, the relay carries its full rated current.
Use it forRF routing, isolation and path selection, where the source is off while you switch.Show these 3 in the selectorMake Only closes onto a load
Contacts can close while voltage is applied, for example to discharge a capacitor. They must open with no current flowing.
Use it forCapacitive discharge, ESD, lightning and surge simulation, defibrillator test.Show these 4 in the selectorMake/Break switches under load
Contacts can close and open with current flowing. Ratings depend on voltage, current and load type.
Use it forLoad switching in test systems, medical and industrial HV equipment, antenna tuning.Show these 11 in the selectorMake/Break, Limited light loads
Can switch with current flowing, at reduced loads. Ask us for ratings at your voltage and current.
Use it forOccasional hot switching where the relay mostly carries current.Show these 3 in the selector
Load switching ratings are application specific. Tell us your voltage, current and load type and an application engineer will confirm the right relay.
